Join CAS (Chapel Arts Studios_ between 5pm and 8pm on 7 February 2020 to welcome Derby based artist John McDonald to Andover where he will be the Andover Town Artist In Residence for three months.
Based at the CAS project space, John will be working with various community groups to develop an artistic response to the unique surroundings of Andover Cemetery. Andover Cemetery is not only a space full of the history of the past, but is also a living public space, used by dog walkers, children passing through on their way home from school, young people chatting on park benches, and those homeless or down on their luck finding some peace and solace there. John aims to gather together voices from all of these sections of the community through creative means and present them back to us in an exhibition that captures the richness of this unique and protected public space. You will be able to come see the work John has produced as the Andover town ‘Artist In Residence’ by visiting CAS between 11 April and 2 May 2020 at the chapel in St Mary’s Cemetery. CAS are also offering one of their popular drop-in activity days on Wednesday 15 April as part of this project – people of all ages and abilities are welcome to attend.
